Diagnosis. Externally, C. gambita follows the general feature of the second group of Caissa species. In male genitalia, the uncus is triangular with a minute apical spine and the gnathos is two-thirds the length of the uncus, pointed apically. The valva is apically broadened, covered with dense hair, with a basal saccular process that is rod-like, reaching almost 3/4 of the valva.

Taxonomic note: Herein, the type of Caissa gambita is studied for the first time. Previous records of C. gambita ( Wu & Fang 2008: Figs 1, 5 , Yoshimoto 1994: Figs 14 , 472) are the wrong identification of C. fasciatum .
