Type species: Tiphia femorata Fabricius 1775 , by original designation.

Type species: Tiphia scabrosa Gerstacker, 1858 , by original designation. Synonymized by Boni Bartalucci (2011: 342).

Sasmarila Argaman in Argaman & Özbek, 1992: 11. Type species: Tiphia cinchonae Allen, 1975 , by original designation. Synonymized by Boni Bartalucci (2011: 342).

Diagnosis. In both sexes, mid tibia without sensorial area just near the spur attachment; in female, antenna with 12 segments ( Fig. 4 ); mesoscutum with anterior medial groove and notaulus ( Fig. 5 ); metabasitarsomere with or without groove; forewing with pterostigma, and apex of marginal cell open ( Fig. 8 ); in male, antenna with 13 segments; mesoscutum with notaulus ( Figs 15 , 25 ); S5 with or without lateral denticle ( Figs 20 , 29 ); S6 apical margin evenly curved without lateral notch ( Figs 18, 19 ); metabasitarsomere without groove; marginal cell of forewing more extended apically (or as extended as) than second submarginal cell ( Figs 12 , 22 ) ( Kimsey 1993; Boni Bartalucci 2010b).
