Rhagovelia robusta Gould, 1931: 13 , 40, 41, 56–57 [description, key, illustration]. Rhagovelia pachymeri Nieser & Melo, 1997: 109 [description, key] syn. nov.

As explained by Moreira et al. (2010) and Nemésio & Melo (2012), new species mentioned on the identification key to the Rhagovelia of Minas Gerais provided by Nieser & Melo (1997) must be considered valid according to the rules of zoological nomenclature at that period. Four of the species described on the key have been addressed by Moreira et al. (2010) and Nemésio & Melo (2012), but there was actually a fifth description on the key. On page 109 of Nieser & Melo (1997), step 39b of the key, there is the mention to a new species named Rhagovelia pachymeri Nieser & Melo, 1997 , which unlike the other four was not described again at Nieser & Polhemus (1999). During a visit to MZSP by FFFM, the type material of R. pachymeri has been examined and revealed to be conspecific with R. robusta . Therefore, we herein propose the synonymy between the two species. This fact was probably what leaded the species to be excluded from the paper by Nieser & Polhemus (1999).
