Brachyolus elegans Broun, 1893: 1194

Lectotype, here designated ( Figures 11, 12 ). Male (BMNH). Pinned to card mount; specimen entire, though with large split on right side as a result of pinning; deciduous mandibular cusps still affixed. Labelled: ‘2115’ [handwritten, Broun’s hand; off-white rectangular card], ‘Wellington’ [printed, off-white rectangular card], BCBM label, ‘ Brachyolus / elegans’ [handwritten, Broun’s hand; off-white rectangular card], ‘BMNH(E) / 1237382’ [printed, white rectangular label], ‘ LECTOTYPE / Brachyolus / elegans / Broun 1893 / Designated SDJ Brown 2013’ [printed, red rectangular label].

Broun (1893) states that two specimens from Wellington made up the type series. A lectotype is here designated to ensure nomenclatural stability. The location of the second syntype is not currently known. No paralectotypes in BMNH.
