2.2. Cenostigma myabense var. clementis (Britton) García-Beltrán , comb. nov.
≡ Poincianella clementis Britton (1930: 333) View in CoL . ≡ Caesalpinia clementis (Britton) León View in CoL in León & Alain (1950: 12). ≡ Caesalpinia myabensis var. clementis (Britton) Barreto (1992: 6) View in CoL .
Lectotype (designated by Barreto 1999: 39, second step designated here): — CUBA. Santiago de Cuba, “coastal thickets, Renté”, July 1919, Bro. Clement 135 (lectotype HAC-LS [material with Plants of Cuba label], isolectotypes HAC-LS [×2], NY #22761 , GH #65815 ).
Diagnosis: — Cenostigma myabense var. clementis is distinguished from the typical variety by its leaves with glabrous leaflets (vs. puberulous on the upper side) and much smaller rachis, 1.2-3 cm (vs. (2-) 3-9.5 cm).
Lectotypification: —In the protologue of Poincianella clementis Britton , the herbarium where the type is found is not mentioned, so reference is made to a complete collection and not to a single specimen, so that all duplicates are considered syntypes ( Turland & al. 2018: Art. 40 Note 1). Contrary to the general custom of designating as a lectotype the material deposited in the herbarium of the author of the name, Barreto (1999) indicates a specimen in HAC, but does not specify which of those existing there. Here, one of the three materials of Bro. Clement 135 existing in HAC (second step lectotypification), which has the same type of label as the one deposited in NY, is indicated as a lectotype.
Distribution: —Endemic to central-eastern Cuba: Las Tunas (Dumañuecos) and Santiago de Cuba (Renté in the bay of Santiago de Cuba, and from Aguadores to Siboney).
