Holotype: AMS I. 12339, 116 mm SL, male.

Type locality: Western Australia, west of Eucla, Great Australian Bight, 32°20' S, 128°00’ E, depth 128 to 220 meters. Illustrations: Roberts, 1989:572, fig. 4; Roberts & Gomon, 2008:546.

D: X, 16 or 17 (most frequently 17). A: III, 8. P: 15. C: 17. V: 26 (10 + 16). S: 3. GR: 33 to 37 (9 or 10 + 24 to 27). LL: 39 to 43. 

Distribution: southern Australia: off South Australia and Western Australia.
