Holotype: BMNH 1937.9.21.13, 70.6 mm SL.

Type locality: Australia, off eastern Tasmania (42°40’ S, 148°27.5’ E), depth 155 to 178 meters. Illustrations: Kuiter, 2004:103; Norman, 1937:55, fig. 2; Roberts, 1989:575, fig. 5; Roberts, 2015:1196, fig.166.15.

Distribution: off Australia (Tasmania) and New Zealand (including offshore banks).
