Oiovelia brasiliensis Moreira, Nessimian & Rúdio View in CoL in Moreira et al., 2010

( Figures 9 View FIGURES 4 – 11 , 12–14 View FIGURES 12 – 17 )

Material examined. 13 apterous males, 6 macropterous males, 9 apterous females, 5 macropterous females, 23 nymphs. BRAZIL, São Paulo State, Santo André, Serra do Mar, Paranapiacaba, Rio Vermelho, on and within foam masses, 23°47’17.7”S / 46°22’36.0”W, 761 m a.s.l., 24.I.2015, H. Rodrigues leg. All in MZUSP.

Remarks. This species has been recorded from Southeastern and Southern Brazil, and this is the third municipality record from the State of São Paulo ( Moreira & Barbosa 2011; Rodrigues et al. 2014). Through the examination of the recently collected specimens, intraspecific variation in body length and particular morphological structures was observed. Body lengths measured 2.85–3.75 mm (macropterous male), 3.40–3.50 mm (apterous male), and 3.20 mm (macropterous female), some of which were smaller or greater than mentioned in the literature.

Most of the specimens have the margins of the pronotum, abdomen, and legs with several long setae ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 12 – 17 ), but some have fewer setae along the body ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 12 – 17 ). The pruinose area on the posterior lobe of the pronotum may be evident ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 12 – 17 ) or not ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 12 – 17 ), and the slight constriction on abdominal sternites III–IV of the female is more developed in the macropterous form, whereas some apterous females do not show this condition. Finally, a few specimens have the upper portion of the abdominal segments orange and the region below the points of insertion of lateral abdominal muscles dark brown to blackish.
