Quadrideres parallelus ( Ancey, 1877) comb. nov.

Type material. Selinus parallelus Ancey, 1877 : During its description Ancey (1877) did not selected a holotype specimen. The four syntypes studied by me represent three different Quadrideres species. Therefore, to fix the taxonomic status of this species a lectotype designation is needed. The specimen designated herein for the lectotype was the most well preserved within the studied type series. Moreover, only this specimen had the locality label. Quadrideres ruandanus Koch, 1956 : During its description Koch (1956) did not selected a holotype specimen or even specify the exact number of type specimens. Although, one of the studied syntypes already had a label indicating its holotype status, which according to the rules of the ICZN (1999) is insufficient for designation a type specimen. Additionally, two of the studied syntypes, excluded by Koch (1956) from the type series, had paratypes labels. A lectotype designation is needed to fix the taxonomic status of the species. Notes. While describing Quadrideres ruandanus, Koch (1956) noted that Selinus parallelus was unknown to him. During the examination of available material I have not found any consistent morphological characters to separate these two species. Therefore, I propose Q. ruandanus as a synonym of S. parallelus .

Morphological data. Because the description of Q. ruandanus made by Koch (1956) is clear and consistent with the data obtained in this study the morphology of this species was not redescribed.

Distribution. This species has been collected in the following ecoregions of the East Africa ( Burundi, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Uganda): Albertine Rift montane forests, Southern Acacia - Commiphora bushlands and thickets and Victoria Basin forest-savanna mosaic ( Fig. 12, 13 ).
