Lectotype (designated by Chen et al. 1992):— PHILIPPINES. Benguet: at Pauai , on damp soil at 2040 m, 8 November 1905, Merrill 4744 ( K001057560 !).
Distribution: —S Hengduan, N Hengduan.
Note: — Epilobium platystigmatosum , E. tibetanum , E. sinense , and E. cylindricum are morphologically similar ( Chen et al. 1992). The first one can be distinguished from the latter three species by its shorter leaves and less toothed margin.
