Lectotype (designated by Raven 1962a):— INDIA. Sikkim: Lachen, 3650 m, 16 July 1849, Hooker s.n. ( K000913973 !, isolectotype JE).

Distribution: — Sikkim & Darjeeling, S Hengduan, U Irrawaddy.

Note: — Epilobium clarkeanum was previously recorded only by two specimens in Sikkim and Myanmar ( Raven 1962a). Then it was found in Yunnan province, China ( Chen et al. 1992). Raven (1962a) noted that E. clarkeanum maybe related to the Alpinae group of Haussknecht (1884).
