Remarks: Examination of the type material and further specimens has shown D. discors Brunner v. Wattenwyl, 1907 and D. chiriquensis Brunner v. Wattenwyl, 1907 to be the opposite sex of Calynda bicuspis Stål, 1875 (syn. n.). Both sexes are averaging smaller and somewhat stockier than C. coronata Carl, 1913 with ♂♂ differing by the almost plain dark brown general colouration, medially broadened anal segment and differently shaped vomer, and ♀♀ mainly by the comparatively broader legs. More ♀♀ will be needed to define the range of intraspecific variability and allow a more proper distinction from C. coronata . Body lengths: ♀♀ 99.0– 107.5 mm (including subgenital plate), ♂♂ 68.0–76.0 mm.

Distribution: Panama: NE-Panama, Province Chiriquí, Valle de Chiriquí [NHMUK, NHMW, NHRS]; NE-Panama, Province Chiriquí, Volcan Chiriquí 4100 ft., Rio Gariche [ANSP]; NE-Panama, Province Chiriqui, Volcan Baru, Finca Lerida, 1600 m [FH, OC]; Costa Rica: Province Cartago, Juan Viñas, 1150 m [ANSP]; Province Cartago, Tucurrique [ANSP].
