Diagnosis. Both sexes of C. sichuanensis can be easily recognized among the Tibetan Colletes by their flattened face and remarkable paraocular pubescence, which is comprised mostly of short setae in females (paraocular area with mostly long branched hairs in all other females) and appressed hairs in males (paraocular area with mostly erect hairs in all other males). Females of C. sichuanensis are also unique in having the mesoscutum covered with velvet-like hairs (mesoscutal hairs are ordinarily branched in the other females) and males in having a heart-shaped S7 and subtriangular gonostylus.
