Herbs, perennial, taprooted, cespitose, not pulvinate; caudex several branched. Trichomes simple, minute. Multicellular glands absent. Stems erect, simple, subscapose. Basal leaves short petiolate, rosulate, terminating caudex branches, simple, fleshy, persistent, entire, very rarely subapically 1- or 2-toothed; cauline leaves subsessile, cuneate, not auriculate, entire. Racemes several flowered, ebracteate, hardly elongated in fruit; rachis straight; fruiting pedicels ascending to divaricate, persistent. Sepals oblong, free, caducous, spreading, equal, base of lateral pair not saccate. Petals white, erect at base with flaring blade, longer than sepals; blade oblong, apex obtuse; claw slightly differentiated from and as wide as blade, shorter than sepals, glabrous, unappendaged, entire. Stamens 6, slightly exserted, erect, slightly tetradynamous; filaments wingless, unappendaged, glabrous, free; anthers oblong, not apiculate. Nectar glands lateral, lunar, median nectaries absent. Ovules 4−8 per ovary; placentation parietal. Fruit dehiscent, capsular siliques, narrowly oblong to lanceolate, terete, not inflated, unsegmented; valves thick, leathery, with a prominent midvein, glabrous, not keeled, smooth, wingless, unappendaged; gynophore obsolete or short; replum rounded, visible; septum complete, membranous, veinless; style distinct, persistent; stigma capitate, slightly 2-lobed, the lobes not decurrent, opposite valves, unappendaged. Seeds uniseriate, wingless, ovoid, plump; seed coat smooth, not mucilaginous when wetted; cotyledons incumbent.
