Material examined: Holotype male of P. furudoprimum Sasa et Arakawa ( NSM no. 248: 65), JAPAN: Toyama Prefecture, Furudo Lake, 20.ix.1993. Holotype male of P. simantodeea Sasa, Suzuki et Sakai ( NSM no. 358: 43), JAPAN: Nakamura Town, Shimanto River, 26.iv.1998, light trap.

Diagnostic characters. The species can be separated from other Paracladopelma species by the fistshaped superior volsella with 1 long seta and covered with microtrichia on the inner part.

Male. Description as in Sasa et al. (1998: 51, fig. 4) with the following corrections: antenna with 11 flagellomeres, AR 1.41, and tergite IX with 16 setae at base of anal point. The wing and hypopygium of the holotype are re-drawn in Figures 27–29 .

Remarks. Zorina (2006) recorded the species from the Russian Far East, and considered P. simantodeea Sasa, Suzuki et Sakai to be a junior synonym of P. furudoprimum based on the description and figures in Sasa et al. (1998). After re-examination of the holotype of P. simantodeea , we confirm the opinion of Zorina (2006).

Distribution. The species is recorded from Japan and the Russian Far East.
