M. jugulohyoideus ( fig. 7 )

ORIGIN: From the posteromedial border of the stylomastoid foramen, deep to M. digastricus venter posterior.

INSERTION: On the tip of the stylohyal cartilage, near the attachment of the stylohyal to the skull.

REMARKS: This muscle has the same general form in the 11 study taxa. In Condylura , the stylohyal cartilage does not attach to the skull, and M. jugulohyoideus inserts on the tip of the floating cartilage.
