( Figs. 1 View Figs , 3–5 View Figs , 9–11 View Figs )
Sebaethe quadrimaculata Jacoby 1892:922 ; Chen 1934:183; Chûjô 1937:45. Hemipyxis quadrimaculata: Gressitt and Kimoto, 1963:847 ; Chûjô 1963 a:399;
Chûjô 1963 b:27; Kimoto 1966:37; Kimoto 1970:219; Kimoto 1989:264.
General color dark brown ( Fig. 1 View Figs ); elytra black with two pairs of transverse white spots near base and at apical 1/3 respectively; antenna blackish brown except for three basal antennomeres. Vertex smooth and without punctures. Pronotum transverse; minutely and randomly punctured but prominently near base; lateral margin rounded and explanate. Elytral surface shining, finely and randomly punctate; lateral margins subparallel. Male: Length 4.0 mm (excluding head), width 2.5 mm; sternum VII bisinuate posteriorly, median internal apodeme clearly visible, appearing as a suture extending from anterior of sternum VII. Median lobe ( Figs. 3–5 View Figs ) with paired lateral, distinct auricles at basal 1/5; basal foramen elongate, narrow, extending apically to half of auricles of 64 median lobe; dorsal median process extremely concave at apical 1/5 and moderately concave at basal 1/5, apical margin slightly emarginate, wide; with paired, lateral two-branched lobe near apex; dorsal lateral sclerite wide at lateral view; oblique dorsal process with apex angular at dorsal view; apical median sclerite with teeth at sides. Female: Length 4.4–5.0 mm, width 2.8–3.2 mm; sternite VIII well sclerotized ( Fig. 10 View Figs ), broad apically, abruptly narrowed at apical 1/3 to long narrow base; gonocoxae narrowed anteriorly and posteriorly ( Fig. 9 View Figs ), each bearing 5–6 setae; spermatheca with receptacle tubular with no narrowing from head of receptacle to pump ( Fig. 11 View Figs ); pump curved, well sclerotized; proximal spermathecal duct long, well sclerotized, coiled multiple
times in tight and loose loops ending just before junction of gland valve and distal spermathecal duct.
