Genus Dromius Bonelli, 1810

Dromius adoxus Andrewes, 1923

New record for Hong Kong and probably for China. Andrewes (1923 a) described this species from India, all specimens came from high altitudes (3,000 feet – 9,000 feet) in the Himalayas. Identification of Hong Kong specimens was made by Dr. Martin Baehr from specimens collected in Mui Wo. The Mai Po specimen varies from the Mui Wo specimens in having the brown of the suture reaching the elytral base, though genitalia is identical to the Mui Wo specimens. Material: 1 ex. Hong Kong, Mai Po N.R. 16.iv. 15 light trap; 1 ex. W.T., 1.xi. 10, on footpath railings at night; Sight record W.T., 1.xi. 10, on footpath railings at night; 1 ex. W.T.L., 10.xi. 13; 1 ex. W.T.L., 15.xi. 13; 1 ex. W.T.L., 16.xi. 13; 1 ex. W.T.L., 17.xi. 10; 1 ex. Hong Kong, Mui Wo, Silvermine bay waterfall 23.xi. 10, in public toilets. Biology: Imago only known from November. Can be attracted to light, it is fully winged and capable of flight.

I have collected a number of specimens possibly correspond to at least three different species of Dromius . A revision of Oriental taxa of this genus is needed.
