Elaphropus nipponicus ( Habu & Baba, 1967)

New record for Hong Kong. This is probably the first record of this species away from Japan. Determined from Habu & Baba (1967), the Hong Kong specimens match perfectly the description of this species and the illustration of the very distinctive male genitalia. The local specimens vary slightly in color some being paler; the males tend to be slightly smaller than females. Material: 2 exx. Hong Kong, Tai Om Shan, 26.ii. 15, leaf litter, many others seen; 1 ex. Hong Kong, Tai Po Kau, 29.vi. 10, in leaf litter; 9 exx. Hong Kong, Tai Po Kau, 22.iv. 15, dry leaf litter 50 m – 150 m altitude; 5 exx. Hong Kong, Shing Mun Wood, 14.v. 2015, winkler, Leg. R.Ho Lee & Y.Luo; 6 exx. Hong Kong, Shing Mun Wood, 14.v. 2015, pitfall trap, Leg. R.Ho Lee & Y.Luo; 2 exx. Hong Kong, Tai Om Shan, 16.v. 15, in leaf litter; 2 exx. Hong Kong, Sha Lo Tung, 28-30.v. 15, Winkler Extractor (Leg. R.Ho Lee & Y.Luo.); 1 ex. Hong Kong, Kap Lung Trail, 2.vii.09, probably in fungus; 4 exx. including many specimens caught and released) Hong Kong, Tai Om Shan, 1.vi. 14; 3 exx. Hong Kong, Tai Po Kau, 14-17.vii. 2015, Winkler extractor (Leg. R.Ho Lee & Y.Luo.); 3 Ƌ 5 ♀ including 100 + specimens caught and released) Hong Kong, Tai Om Shan, 22.vii. 14, in leaf litter, though none were caught in the damper leaf litter); 4 exx., Hong Kong, Wu Kau Tang (Fund Shui Wood), 28.vii. 15, in leaf litter; 4 exx. Hong Kong, Tai Om Shan, 20.ix. 14; 1 ex. Hong Kong, Tai Po Kau, 29.ix. 12, in leaf litter. Biology: Imago at least February to September. Dry, though not desiccated leaf litter, in well wooded areas, and probably fungus. At Tai Om Shan, density of 20 specimens per square meter were recorded by the author. Wings very poorly developed. Genus Lymnastis Motschulsky, 1862

Lymnastis pilosus Bates, 1892  .
