Key to males of the Pollenia haeretica species-group

1 Cerci broad in dorsal view ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ); apex appearing truncated ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ), slightly upturned in lateral view ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ) and covered with a very conspicuous and very dense brush of brownish setulae ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ). In lateral view the long erect setae present on the dorsal surface of the cerci proceed distally all the way to the tip ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ). Pregonite a broad-based triangle in lateral view ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 10 ). Frons at narrowest / head width ratio 0.121–0.158..........1. Pollenia haeretica Séguy

- Cerci narrow in dorsal view ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 16 – 25 ); apex long, pointed ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 16 – 25 ), not upturned in lateral view ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 16 – 25 ) and covered with an inconspicuous, sparse brush of yellowish setulae ( Figs. 21 View FIGURES 16 – 25 , 28 View FIGURES 26 – 30. 26 – 29 ).
