Euseius neomagucii Ueckermann, Moraes & Oliveira View in CoL , n. sp. ( Fig. 25 View FIGURE 25 )
DIAGNOSIS: This species resembles Euseius magucii (Meyer & Rodrigues) in the general appearance of the dorsal shield and the shape of the spermatheca and ventral shields. However, it differs form Euseius magucii in that setae j3 (2225), z4 (2632), s4 (5457) and S5 (16) are much shorter (opposed to 4349, 5058, 7892 and 2432, respectively, in E. magucii ) and Sge II bears 8 setae, with av1 present.
FEMALE (2 specimens).
Dorsum – Dorsal shield with striations laterally, 324 (290) long and 191 (189) wide. Setae j1 30 (25), j3 25 (22), j4 9 (13), j5 9 (13), j6 13 (16), J2 13 (16), J5 6 (6), z2 16 (16), z4 26 (32), z5 9 (13), Z1 13(13), Z4 16(16), Z5 50 (47), s4 57 (54), S2 19 (19), S4 18 (19), S5 16 (16), r3 16 (16), R1? (13). Dorsal setae smooth except Z5, which are serrated. Setae R1 are absent in the holotype.
Peritreme – Reaching slightly beyond level of setae z2.
Venter – All ventral shield smooth. Distances between ST1ST3 54 (54), ST2ST2 60 (57), ST5ST5 69 (60). A single metapodal shield. Ventrianal shield 98 (95) long, 57 (54) wide at ZV2 level and 63 (65) wide at anus level. Seta JV1 inserted on anterior margin of ventrianal shield.
Chelicera – Movable digit 22 (22) long, with one tooth; fixed digit 25 (25) long, with 5 teeth.
Spermatheca – Calyx tubular but can be slightly bulged adjacent to atrium, 15 (16) long.
Legs – Macrosetae sharptipped: Sge IV 38 (38), Sti IV 32 (32), St IV 63 (60); chaetotaxy of genu II 22/1, 2/01; genu III 12/1,2/01.
TYPE MATERIAL: holotype female and one paratype female (ARCPPRI, Pretoria, South Africa), Mkhomazi State Forest, Province of Kwazulu/Natal, South Africa, on Leucosidea sericea , 19I1991, M.K.P. Smith Meyer.
