Etymology: Generic name from the Latin “annulus” = circular, ringed.
Specific epithet based on location of fossil.
Type: Holotype deposited in the Poinar amber collection maintained at Oregon State University (Cat. No. Sy-1-156).
Type locality: Simojovel area of Chiapas, Mexico.
