Etymology. The species name “guaymii” refers to Guaymi, a native tribe typical of Panama, where the new species was collected.

Head lateral cephalic lobes rounded, anteroventral corner excavated ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ). Antenna 1 about 3 × as long as antenna 2, article 1 as long as article 2, ventral margin with 3 small setae; accessory flagellum absent; primary flagellum 18-articulate, twice as long as long as peduncle ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ). Antenna 2 scarcely setose; article 1 bulbous; cone gland smaller than mid-length of article 3; article 4 slightly longer than article 5; flagellum shorter than peduncle, 7-articulate ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ).

Mouthparts. Labrum without seta, lateral margins expanded ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ). Mandible palp 3-articulate, article 1 subrectangular, article 2 about 1/3 × longer than article 3, with 2 lateral setae, article 3 conical, without apical setae, lateral margin with 7 long setae; left mandibular incisor with 3 teeth, right with 4 teeth; lacinia mobilis symmetrical (3 cusps) and well developed, accessory row with 7 simple setae, molar small and triturating ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ). Labium 2 × wider than long, outer lobes laterally expanded, with apical small, simple setae; inner lobes rounded, without setae ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ). Maxilla 1, palp 2-articulate, article 1 subquadrate, as long as wide, article 2 more than twice as long as article 1, apical margin rounded with 3 long and 3 small apical setae; outer plate subrectangular, apical margin with 9 pectinate setae; inner lobe subquadrate, apical margin with 3 long and 1 short setae ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ). Maxilla 2, slender, outer lobe as long as inner lobe, both apically setose; oblique row of setae absent. Maxilliped, outer plate subrectangular, with stout apical setae; inner plate thin, inner margin straight with six sets of setae, outer margin rounded, apical margin with four long setae; palp strong, well developed and 5-articulate; article 3 conical, inner margin beset with simple setae; article 4 notably globose, about 2/3 of article 3 length, 3 × as wide as article 5.

Pereon. Gnathopod 1, coxa 1 subrectangular, about twice as wide as long; basis subrectangular, without lobes, distal margin with 2 slender setae, posteroventral corner with one long seta; ischium less than half length of merus, distal margin with long seta; merus globose, subround, about 2.5 × as wide as ischium, distal margin beset with small setae, including two long stout setae; carpus long, about 0.3 × longer than propodus, distal margin densely setose; propodus globose, posterodistal margin excavate, covered with long, slender setae; palm oblique, concave, beset with small setae, fascial margin with row of stout setae; dactylus as long as palm, without seta or process ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ).

Gnathopod 2 wider and longer than gnathopod 1, coxa 2 subrectangular, with coxal gill; basis robust, subrectangular, without lobes, posteroventral lobe with long seta; merus elongated, about twice longer than ischium; carpus subtriangular, smaller than propodus, distal margin with small setae; propodus globose and long, palm oblique defined by slender seta, ornamented with rounded process near hinge of dactylus, medial broad excavation and trapezoid process; dactylus robust, longer than palm, without setae or processes ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ).

Pereopod 3 coxa subrectangular, with coxal gill; basis subrectangular, posterior margin with four setae, anterior margin with two setae; merus about half basis length, anterior margin with two setae, posteroventral corner with seta; carpus ¼ longer than merus, posterior margin setose; propodus elongated, similar in length to carpus; dactylus setose.

Pereopod 4 similar to pereopod 3, except by coxa 4 notch ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Pereopod 5 coxa 5 anteriorly expanded, subrectangular; basis 2 × as long as wide, posterior margin smooth, posteroventral corner acute and projected; ischium subquadrate, anteroventral margin with one small seta; merus about 2/3 of basis length, posteroventral corner with one seta and anteroventral corner with two setae, one long and one small; carpus subrectangular, about 3/4 of merus length, posteroventral corner with 3 setae and anteroventral corner with 2 setae; propodus subrectangular, 1/3 longer than merus, anterior margin with 2 setae; dactylus setose ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ).

Pereopod 6, 0.3 × longer than pereopod 5; gill present, coxa 6 similar to coxa 5; basis subrectangular, posterior margin slightly convex and smooth, posteroventral corner acute and produced; ischium subquadrate, anteroventral margin with one seta; merus long, subrectangular, about 4/5 of basis length, posteroventral and anteroventral corners with one seta; carpus elongated, subrectangular, slightly longer than merus, anterior margin with two medial setae, anteroventral and posteroventral corner with two setae; propodus about 1/3 as long as carpus, posteroventral corner with three setae; dactylus setose ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ).
