Thus typified, Gomphia falls into the synonymy of Ouratea Aubl. 1775 View Treatment and is no longer a potential threat to Campylospermum Tiegh. 1902 View Treatment , the currently used name of an Old World (mainly African) genus of ca. 65 species. So Campylospermum appears to be safe-unless and until someone finds out that it is antedated by and synonymous with Philomeda Thouars 1806 View Treatment , at which point a conservation proposal will hopefully be submitted. But that topic is, understandably, beyond the scope of the present note.
