Male (holotype). Venezuela, Territotio Federal Amazonas. Departamento Rio Negro, Cerro Neblina , Camp V, 1250 m, 00° 49 '10 " N, 66°00 ' 02''W, 23 - 24 Mar 1984, O. Flint leg GoogleMaps .

Material (5 ♂, including holotype and paratypes). All with the same data as holotype GoogleMaps .

Male (holotype). Labium pale; inferior parts of head coppery black; labrum and frontal portion of clypeus white, the former with a narrow black distal border; dorsal surface of clypeus and upper parts of head black with coppery reflections. First antennal segment paler brown than the remaining segments. Prothorax brown with a pale longitudinal band on each side representing a prolongation of the pale mesepisternal humeral band. Posterior lobe with a rounded projection in the middle. Anterior margin of mesostigmal lamina white, raised in its external half. Pale middorsal carina accompanied on each side by a dark line as broad as carina itself; remainder of mesepisternum brown except for pale humeral stripe occupying one third of mesepisternum. This stripe reaching anteaiar sinus, which is also pale behind humeral stripe; mesepimeron and nearly all of mesinfraepisternum dark brown; metepisternum and metepimeron white, the suture between them bordered on the metepister-

num by a narrow black brown stripe continuing ventrally across upper half of metakatepisternum, dorsally approaching antealar sinus and ending in a low curve towards middle of metepisternum. Sternum between coxae black, metasternum as in Figure 52.

Femora pale brown becoming black distally and ventrally along outer row of spines; tibiae black at base becoming almost white distally; tarsi pale at base becoming black distally. Wings slightly smoky; pterostigma red brown covering more than one cell; venation black, paler basally. 14 (12) postnodals in fore wings, 13 in hind wings. R 4 originating at first postnodai; IR 3 at eighth (sixth) postnodai in fore wings, at seventh in hind wings. Ra branching at ninth (eighth) postnodai in all wings; IR 2 originating at twelfth postnodal in the left fore wing, at eleventh in other wings. Hind wings with 8 (6) cells behind Cu 2 (= 1A). Abdominal segments 1 and 2 brown dorsally, white laterally; anterior lamina and penis vesicle black (Figures 51 - 52); segment 3-8 with a pale basal ring, which is continuous only on segment 8, while on remaining segments this basal ring divided into three pale spots, the lateral two enlarged ventrally; segments 3-6 with a broad, black distal ring, preceded by a pale area and, more basally, by a dark area, which follows the pale basal ring; segments 9 and 10 and appendages (Figures 48 - 49) black brown; basal internal tooth of superior appendage pale.

Measurements. Total length (excluding anal appendages) 60.5 mm; abdomen (excl. app.) 52 mm; anal appendages 1.4 mm; hind wing 26.2 mm.

The Paratype males are similar to the holotype.

Female. Unknown.

Remarks. The genus Perissolestes Kennedy is here recorded for the first time from Venezuela. The new species is not particularly similar to any described species. I dedicate this new species to Dr. Oliver S. Flint, Jr., who not only collected the specimens, but merits recognition for his contribution to the knowledge of the insect fauna of Venezuela.
