Diagnosis. Cercal plate in distal half (or third) produced into a single long narrow process, the apex of which generally reaches the level of apices of surstyli; often bearing a single pair of long setae medially (e.g., B. angustisilva ) or numerous long lateral setae ( B. anthracimetopa , B. silva ). Surstylus with a median tooth on inner margin ( B. salicis , B. silva , etc.) or simple ( B. cuneata , B. melametopa ). Processes of sternite 5 nearly always with long dense spines on inner margins (except in B. cuneata , B. deegensis , and others).

Species included in this group from China are B. angustisilva Xue & Yang, 2002 , B. anthracimetopa ( Zhong, 1985) , B. apiciquadrata (Deng, Li & Fan in Deng et al., 1990), B. chelonocerca Xue & Yang, 2002 , B. cuneata ( Deng, Li & Liu, 1996) , B. degeensis ( Fan & Zheng, 1993) , B. densispinula sp. nov., B. euryisurstyla (Deng, Liu & Li, 1995) , B. flavibellula ( Deng, Geng, Liu & Li, 1995) , B. fulgicauda (Deng, Lui & Li, 1995) , B. ligoniformis ( Deng, 1993) , B. macrospinigera ( Deng, Fan & Li, 1990) , B. melametopa (Fan in Fan & Zheng, 1993), B. monoconica ( Chen & Fan, 1995) , B. nigribella ( Deng, Geng, Liu & Li, 1995) , B. pentachaeta (Fan in Fan & Zheng, 1993), B. pinguilamella ( Fan & Zheng, 1993) , B. platysurstyla sp. nov., B. salicis ( Ringdahl, 1918) , B. sichuanensis ( Li, 1980) , B. silva ( Suwa, 1974) , B. spinisternata ( Suwa, 1974) , B. subquadrata ( Jin, 1983) , B. tetraseta ( Fan & Zheng, 1993) , B. tibetana (Schnabl in Schnabl & Dziedzicki, 1911), B. tortiforceps ( Deng, 1993) , B. trisetigonita ( Jin, 1983) , and B. zhuoniensis ( Jin, 1983) .
