Neotype (Areces & Fryxell, Fl. Cuba, in press): Jamaica. St Thomas Parish, along the Sulphur River above Bath Fountain, ca. 400ft, 25 Jun 1968, G.R. Proctor 28806 (LL; iso- NY, U).

Current name: Pavonia fruticosa (Mill.) Fawc. & Rendle ( Malvaceae ).
