Daternomina quasitrulla Neboiss, 2003: 66 , figs 16G, H.

Diagnosis. Daternomina quasitrulla can be distinguished from all other Daternomina species by having relatively short, fused inferior appendages, with a relatively shallow, wide notch apically, dividing at most the distal third and superior appendages which are rounded distally.

Description. (Revised after Neboiss 2003). Head, body and wings brown; wings similar to D. irrorata ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–6 ). Forewing length about 3.1 times width: male 5.0 mm. Forewing fork 2 relatively long, sessile, length about 1.7–1.8 times length of fork 3, nygma present; fork 3 relatively long, length about 2.1–2.2 times length footstalk, footstalk length about 1.7–1.8 times length cross-vein m; r-m and m displaced at fork 3 by about 1.9–2.0 times length cross-vein m; fork 4 length similar to fork 3; fork 5 long, length about 1.8 times length of fork 4. Hindwing length about 3 times width; fork 2 sessile, length about 1.7–1.9 times length of fork 3.

Male. Tergum X membranous with a pair of small mesal processes ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 25–30 ). Superior appendages strongly laterally compressed; in lateral view, broad, rounded distally, length about 2.5 times width ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 25–30 ); in dorsal view, relatively slender, length about 4 times width, with a group of spines on inner surface ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 25–30 ). Phallus generally tube-like, with a pair of small spines apically; with a single robust, curved process (phallic guide) arising from near the base of the inferior appendages ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 25–30 ). Inferior appendages strongly dorsoventrally compressed, small; in ventral view, fused, short, broad, with a shallow, wide V-shaped notch distally ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 25–30 ); in lateral view, short, slightly curved ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 25–30 ).

Female. Unknown.

Material examined: Holotype male, Tasmania, Fortescue Bay, 43°08'S 147°57'E, Tasman Peninsula , Malaise trap, 7–9 Feb 1989, D. Bickle ( NMV, specimen PT-1834 figured). GoogleMaps

Remarks. A single male specimen of Daternomina quasitrulla has been collected from the type locality in south-eastern Tasmania (latitude 43°08'S). Neboiss’s (2003) figures have been redrawn to allow direct comparisons and to accompany the description that is revised in light of new interpretations of Daternomina genitalic structures.
