Quassitagma duplicata Gozmány, 1978: 134 View in CoL ; Wu, 1997: 208.
Type locality: West Tien-mu-shan, Zhejiang Province, China , Type specimen in ZFMK .
Lecithocera sp. Oku et al., 2018: 22.
Diagnosis. The species is characterized by the following combination: forewing with two discal spots; veins M2 and M3 stalked; male 7 th sternite with a T-shaped plate. The species is closely similar to L. platomona ( Wu, 1997) from which it is distinguished by the following characteristics: the wingspan smaller; in the male genitalia, the basal plate of gnathos somewhat triangular, the aedeagus thick, about two times as wide as the valva, apically spinose.
Description. See Gozmány (1978) for detailed description of the adults and male genitalia. Female genitalia unknown.
Specimens examined. JAPAN, [Ryukyu]: 1 ♂, Ogami-yama, Amami City, Amami Oshima Island , Kagoshima Pref., 25.v.2018, J. Oku leg. (1 ♂ Gen. sl. no. Lecithocera No. 64) in ELKU ; 1 ♂, Naze-asato, Amami City, Amami Oshima Island , Kagoshima Pref., 24.v.2018, J. Oku leg. (1 ♂ Gen. sl. no. Lecithocera No. 66) in ELKU ; 1 ♂, Buren, Uken Village, Amami Oshima Island , Kagoshima Pref., 16.xi.2013, S. Sameshima leg. (1 ♂ Gen. sl. no. Amami Gelechioidea No. 50), deposited in KGU ; 1 ♂, same locality, 3.xi.2018, J. Oku leg. (1 ♂ Gen. sl. no. Lecithocera No. 53) in ELKU .
Distribution. Japan (New record): Amami-Ôshima Island; China.
Biology. Adults fly in mid-spring and late-fall.
Remarks. The species was reported by Oku et al. (2018) as Lecithocera sp. from Amami-Ôshima Island, which was the first record from Japan. We identified it based on characteristic forewing venation and the identical shape of the male genitalia illustrated by Gozmány (1978) and Wu (1997).
The genus Quassitagma to which the species had originally belonged was established by Gozmány (1978), separating it from Lecithocera by the stalked M2 and M 3 in the forewing venation. Park (2000), however, considered that this venation feature was not sufficient for generic separation and he synonymized the genus Quassitagma with Lecithocera . However, Park (2000) did not transfer duplicata to Lecithocera and we formalize this new combination here. Both L. duplicata and L. glabrata (Wu & Liu, 1997) formerly in Quassitagma ( Park 2000) , have a characteristically T-shaped and sclerotized plate on the male 7 th sternite, in addition to diagnostic feature of the forewing venation. Among the Vietnam species, Park et al. (2016b) established the L. indigens species-group based on the stalked forewing veins M2 and M3, a group that was included in the Quassitagma by Gozmány (1978). Further study is required to assess whether species originally placed in Quassitagma should be considered a subgroup within Lecithocera or merit separate generic status.
