Eudorella ryukyuensis Akiyama & Gamô, 2005 View in CoL

( Fig. 34 View FIGURE 34 )

Eudrella ryukyuensis Akiyama & Gamô, 2005: 261 View in CoL –269, figs. 1–4.

Material examined. 1 ovigerous female, 9.4 mm, dissected (NSMT-Cr 22164), west of Koshiki Bank (East China Sea), 31°39´N, 129°06´E – 31°40´N, 129°05´E, 703–714 m (KT-08-3, St. KS-2), 6 March 2008.

Remarks. Eudorella ryukyuensis is related to E. hwanghaensis Hong & Park, 1999 and E. bathyhwanghaensis , sp. nov., based on: (1) the serrated frontal margin of the carapace; (2) antenna 2 with a few setae on the lower margin, (3) the basis of maxilliped 2 has many setae on the inner margin and the ventral surface ( Fig. 34 View FIGURE 34 ); and (4) the basis of pereopod 1 has a few robust spiniform setae on the ventral surface. Concerning the third character, we omitted a description of these setae in the original description ( Akiyama & Gamô 2005). The adult male specimen of E. ryukyuensis is clearly distinguishable from the other two species by the lack of secondary sexual characters on the tip of pereopod 3, which are present in the other two species.

Distribution. Off Kyushu and Nansei Isles., Okinawa Trough, the East China Sea, 703–1533 m.
