Persian Gulf. Utinomi (1969) as Tetraclita squamosa rufotincta Pilsbry, 1916 , from the Strait of Hormuz ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ); present study.

Gulf of Oman. Utinomi (1969) as Tetraclita squamosa rufotincta Pilsbry, 1916 , from an unknown locality; present study.

General distribution and habitat. Western Indian Ocean, on intertidal rocks ( Newman & Ross 1976; Utinomi 1969).

Descriptive features and remarks. Shell with four pink or grey plates, parietes tubiferous, with tiny ribs externally ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 e). Scutum ( Figs 4 View FIGURE 4 a, b) with 10 oblique teeth on occludent margin; tergum ( Figs 4 View FIGURE 4 c, d) with 6-8 depressor muscle crests. Largest specimen (ZUTC-cirri 1148) with basal diameter 40.46 mm, height 32.8 mm, orifice diameter 13.0 mm.

Specimens were collected from intertidal rocks ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 f) at Dayyer (27° 49'N, 51° 55'E), Parsian (27° 02'N, 53° 16'E), Bandar-Lengeh (26° 30'N, 54° 39'E), Abu-Musa (25° 51'N, 55° 02'E) and Chabahar (25° 19'N, 60° 37'E) ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ).
