Diagnosis. Dorsum with setae slightly pointed ( Fig. 34E View Figure ); preopercular pores situated anterolaterally to anal plates, in 3 groups on each side ( Fig. 34G View Figure ). Stigmatic clefts each containing 3 stigmatic spines ( Fig. 34B View Figure ). Legs entirely absent (partially adopted from Green 1904b; Morrison 1920; Tao et al. 1983; Hodgson & Williams, 2018).

Hosts. Polyphagous. According to García Morales et al. (2016), P. quadratum  has been recorded from plants belonging to 4 genera in 4 families. In Laos, it has been recorded on Ficus  sp. ( Moraceae  ) ( Suh & Bombay 2015).

Distribution. Mainly known from Oriental Region ( Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Taiwan) ( Suh & Bombay 2015; García Morales et al. 2016).

Economic importance. Paralecanium quadratum  has not been recorded as an economically important pest.

Remarks. We did not collect any specimens of Paralecanium quadratum  in this study. Paralecanium quadratum  is similar to P. expansum (Green)  ; see the remarks section for P. expansum  above.
