Type species: Thailus nigroscutellatus Mahmood, 1967

Description. Ground color usually orange, vertex with pair of crescent-shaped milky patches at transition to face; eyes, basal triangles of mesonotum and tip of scutellum black. Forewing with large black patch near base at outer margin. Body medium sized. Head in dorsal view weakly produced and rounded apically, as wide as pronotum; coronal suture indistinct. Forewing with fourth apical cell extremely short, less than half length of third, without AA and AP veins. Hind wing without RA vein.

Male 2S abdominal apodemes broad, extended to fourth sternite. Anal tube appendage well developed.

Male pygofer side well sclerotized, with about 2 macrosetae at lower basal angle and some short, fine microsetae; dorsal appendage fused to lobe, extremely short, lamellate; ventral appendage extended from caudal margin of lobe. Subgenital plate broad, apical 1/4 compressed and directed dorsad, with macrosetae at subapical angle, row of marginal short rigid microsetae from near base to near apex and irregular rows of short rigid microsetae apically. Style slender apically, preapical lobe well developed. Connective lamellate, central lobe large. Aedeagus tubular, without process; preatrium long; gonopore terminal.
