Specimens in the CMNH were collected in Chiapas, Yaxoquintela , 168589N, 918479W, 560 m, 5 October 1978. GoogleMaps Specimens in LACM were collected at Veracruz, Cordoba, 12–25 July 1964 .
Metcalf (1963 a) incorrectly synonymized Z. smaragdula with Z. calochroma . The 2 species differ morphologically and can be separated with the original species descriptions. Examination of the genitalia also illustrates that both are valid species.
