Diagnosis: Biflagellated colourless protists of un- known affinities. Body rigid and flattened with ventral depression subapically. Both flagella inserting into ven- tral depression. One flagellum directed anterior-lateral- ly, the other trailing. Move by swimming.

Type species: Kurnaimonas celeris nov. spec.

Etymology: ‘Kurnai’ is a collective name for five aboriginal tribes in the Gippsland area.
