Barcinus Usinger & Matsuda 1959 (redescription & key)

Diagnosis. The detailed description of Usinger & Matsuda 1959 includes characters of all the known 7 species of these. In the light of present studies, six of them are now assigned into two different new genera ( Heterobarcinus , Papuabarcinus ).

The only included species is now different from all other species formerly described as Barcinus as well as from the new taxa, and easily recognised by the arrangement of the lateral spines on the pronotal lobes and deltg II–V, the acute lateral expansions on deltg VI and VII, and the acute apices of the genae reaching beyond the basal half of antennal segment I.
