Names within Iris ser. Lacteae

After a detailed study of the relevant specimens and literature and a revision of all the previously published names at specific or infraspecific rank within I. sect. Lacteae , three species are here accepted, a new combination and status are proposed, and thirteen heterotypic synonyms are recognized. Morphologically, the taxa of Iris lactea are classified into three forms, which can be easily distinguished by their flower colour. The results of analysis of the accepted names and their synonymy, including the typification of names, are summarized in the following synonymic synopsis.
