Townes and Townes (1966) pointed out that the name of this species was a junior primary homonym of Hemiteles thoracicus Ratzeburg, 1852 View in CoL ; and proposed the replacement name alayoi View in CoL . Holotype Ƥ (IES # 158) lacking wings and glued face downwards onto a white card square.
