There are five genera in the Luciliinae worldwide, including Blepharicnema Macquart, 1844 ; Dyscritomyia Grimshaw, 1901 ; Hemipyrellia Townsend, 1918 ; Hypopygiopsis Townsend, 1916a and Lucilia but only two, Lucilia and Blepharicnema are found in the New World.
