Type locality. Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Type material. Lectotype ♂ ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES ) and paralectotype ♀, here designated. The specimens are deposited in MLP under the numbers 1658/1 and 1658/2, respectively. Lectotype labels: “ Fidicina bonaerensis Berg , handwr; and Dorisia bonaerensis (Berg) , handwr.” and “typus”. Paralectotype label: “typus”.
Diagnosis. The species can be distinguished from all other species of Guyalna by the color of the head, pronotum and mesonotum and the yellowish wing veins, the uncus with spines and the median uncus lobe with a median suture and narrow lateral margins. This species has a similar morphology to G. flavipronotum Sanborn, 2007 ( Sanborn 2016a) and G. atalapae Boulard & Martinelli, 2011 due the wing vein coloration, the infuscation around the second and third transverse veins of fore wings and the shape of the timbal cover. G. bonaerensis can be distinguished from the first by the color of mesonotum that is castaneous in G. flavipronotum and yellow in G. bonaerensis and from the second by the lateral sigillae stained in black anteriorly, the black band extending laterally reaching the scutellum and the distal portion of the wings not bronzed.
Color. Head, pronotum and mesonotum yellow. Abdomen brown in dorsal view and tawny in ventral view. Basal cell, base of clavus and jugum of fore wings yellowish, Basal area of hind wings yellowish. Legs tawny proximally, becoming dark distally.
Description. Head ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4 – 10 ) including eyes, broader than pronotum (except pronotal collar) and mesonotum. Vertex with transverse black band departing from each eye reaching the anterior margin of postclypeus and supraantennal plates in dorsal view. Elliptical eyes projecting laterally beyond anterior angles of pronotum, internal margin of eyes tangent to imaginary line continued from lateral fissure of pronotum. Area behind eyes almost equal to smaller diameter of eyes in dorsal view. Lateral ocelli widely separated, distance between them equivalent to distance between each lateral ocellus and eye. Lateral ocelli laterally projected, higher than median ocellus in frontal view. Postclypeus (Fig. 2) with seventeen transverse ridges, oval in ventral view and globose in lateral view, apex prominent in dorsal view relative to supra-antennal plates. Central sulcus shallow and slender. Anteclypeus black with tawny carina, apex of bifurcation in half-moon form black. Lorum black with setae. Rostrum with tawny mentum and labium. Labium short, reaching the posterior margin of basisternum 3, black at apex.
Pronotum ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4 – 10 ) slightly wider than head and narrower than the mesonotum (except the pronotal collar). Ambient fissure with black band extending to middle of pronotum and to lateral margins of pronotal collar. Paranota wide (reaching the eyes) and convex, visible in dorsal view. Mesonotum ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 4 – 10 ) with submedian sigillae stained in black and lateral sigillae stained in black anteriorly, black band extending laterally reaching the scutellum. Scutal depression stained in black. Apex of posterior projections of scutellum slightly pointed. Epimeral lobel reaching the anteromedian margin of operculum, directed posteriorly. Anepimeron 2 shorter than epimeral lobe, apex directed laterally. Basisternum 3 ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 4 – 10 ) with well-developed protuberances relative to median insertion, protuberances apices spaced. Posterior margin of basisternum 3 straight. Operculum ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 4 – 10 ) triangular, apex closing the tympanal cavity, lateral margin convex, posterior margin curved, meracanthus does not reaches the posterior opercular margin. Internal angles of operculum wide, the apex obtuse and widely separated, gutter present on entire margin of operculum. Profemora armed with three spines, primary round at apex and leaning forward, secondary sharp and straight, and apical straight and shorter than others. Three segmented tarsi. Wings hyaline. Fore wings with median vein divergent to cubitus anterior vein, basal cell entirely opaque, apical cell 2 shorter than 1 and 3, medial crossvein oblique. Hind wings with radius vein straight.
Abdomen conical, the length equivalent to combined length of head and thorax in dorsal view. Timbal cover (Fig. 3) tumid, rounded apex reaching the metascutellar plate, the medial margin straight completely covering timbals. Tergite 1 visible. Sternite I not visible in ventral view. Posterior margin of sternite II concave. Median projection of sternite II long, reaching the posterior limit of metacoxae. Sternite VII ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 4 – 10 ) sub-rectangular, lateral margin straight. Sternite VIII in ogive-shaped with spines in posterior margin.
Pygofer ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 4 – 10 ) with rounded distal shoulder. Basal lobe of pygofer short, not reaching the lateral uncus lobes and not delimited with the lateral margin of pygofer. Uncus ( Fig. 101 View FIGURES 101 – 109 ) with spines and lateral margins convex. Median uncus lobe triangular with median suture and narrow lateral margins in ventral view. Lateral uncus lobes wide and obtuse, expanded laterally in ventral view, forming a horse shoe-shaped structure in posterior view. Protuberance of basal plate distant from apex of basal lobe. Basal curve of aedeagus short, near to lateral lobes. Theca ( Figs. 9, 10 View FIGURES 4 – 10 ) expanded laterally to vesica, left part extending beyond the apex forming a short horn relative to size of theca. Vesica originates in fissure at theca, extruded in round shape, with gonopore near apex.
Female. Same somatic characteristics of male except operculum ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ) smaller, posterior margin sinuous, lateral margin convex, meracanthus over internal angle. Sternite VII ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ) longer, sub-rectangular, posterior margin sinuous with obtuse middle groove. Ovipositor sheath extending same distance as tip of dorsal beak. Ovipositor ( Fig.13 View FIGURES 11 – 13 ) with eight teeth.
