Remarks. Ectoedemia heringi is often overlooked because adults are almost inseparable from E. subbimaculella and the mines from those of E. albifasciella (see remarks under that species). Because reared material provides the most certain records, males collected without females are excluded. We suspect that E. heringi is much more widespread than the records indicate.
