Examined specimen: Iran, Northern Khorasan, Darkesh , ca 5 km to Haver. 37°32′40″N, 57°04′30″E, 750 m a.s.l., 15 May 2018, F. Attar , K. Mehdigholi , M. Habibi and N. Bayat , 48307 ( TUH) GoogleMaps .
Erect shrub, 2 (3) m high; thin and long shoots, shortly pubescent when young. Stipules 7–9 mm long, subulate, dentate at the margin. Leaves bilaterally symmetric, glabrous; leaves on short shoots (6–) 15–25 mm long and 6–9 (–l0) mm wide, often elongate-obovate-cuneate or elongate-elliptic, rounded or acute at apex, leaves on sterile shoots up to 26 (–30) mm long and 18 (–22) mm wide, broadly elliptic, mucronate; petioles 1.5–5 mm long, shortly pubescent or glabrous. Cyme 1–2-flowered; pedicels glabrous, 2–2.5(–3) mm long; hypanthium cylindrical, 6–8 mm long, glabrous outside, slightly hairy above base inside; calyx lobes oblong-oval -triangular, one-third to one-fourth the length of the hypanthium; petals reddish-pink, 3–4 mm long; stamens 15–20; ovary and style glabrous. Drupe ovoid, rarely subglobose, (8–) 10–12 mm long, glabrous; stone 8–10 mm long, 7–9 mm diameter, with radially divergent furrows, with network of shallow furrows along sutures and on apex.
The taxonomic results for P. jacquemontii is presented here the first time from Iran. This species is morphologically close to P. griffithii , in which both species are erect shrub with sessile or subsessile flowers ( Figs. 4a, 4b, 4c View FIGURE 4 ). However, P. jacquemontii with glabrous leaves on both sides, the glabrous hypanthium, glabrous style and ovary differs from P. griffithii with leaves glabrous on upper surface or with short hairs, and white tomentose beneath, the whitetomentose hypanthium, styles villous-hairy at the base and ovary villous-hairy at the apex. P. jacquemontii has only been recorded at the rocky slopes of Darkesh mountain in Northern Khorasan (NE Iran) where the species is found as a small population.
