Euacanthus bellus Distant, 1918: 11 View in CoL .

Crown ochraceous with one spot on either side of median line in posterior half, most part of anterior marginal spot, black. Anterior half of pronotum black, posterior half ochraceous. Mesonotum black. Face and body beneath black. Legs mostly pale ochraceous. Forewing ochraceous, broad longitudinal fascia in clavus, similar fascia commencing from disc of forewing at about 0.33 from base and not reaching apex and apical area black; costal margin, narrowly black.

Head narrower than pronotum. Crown, face and pronotum polished. Transverse impressed line on pronotum shallow.

Male genitalia. Male pygofer height greater than length in lateral view, dorsal margin convex, apical membranous lobe finger-like, ventral pygofer process slightly exceeding length of lobe and gradually narrowed distally to pointed apex. Subgenital pale slightly narrowed distally with hair-like and macrosetae. Style elongate, with foot-shaped apophysis, toe prolonged into long process. Connective with stem slightly longer than arms. Aedeagus stout, dorsolateral lobes smaller and shorter than their process, latter quadrangular and in lateral view reaching ventral margin of aedeagal shaft, ventral margin of aedeagus with angular prominences, extension of atrium well developed and longer; in ventral view shaft and processes of dorsolateral lobes of similar length, shaft with lateral lobe-like projection, gonopore apical.

Female genitalia. Seventh sternite with median conical lobe on posterior margin, with posterolateral angles rounded.

Measurements. Male 7.3 mm long, 1.87 mm wide across eyes and 2.0 mm wide across hind margins of pronotum. Female 7.3 mm long, 2.2 mm wide across eyes and 2.05 mm wide across hind margin of pronotum.

Material examined. INDIA: Lectotype ♀ ( Figs 6Q–T View FIGURES 6 ) (here designated), “ Darjiling ” “ Euacanthus bellus type Dist. [Distant’s hw]” “ Distant Coll. 1911-383” “ Type H. T. [red edged disc]” ( BMNH) ; 1 ♂, Darjiling, 6000–7000 ft, E. Himalayas, 11.iv. [19]14, Gravely, Lord Carmichaels Collection, CC, 1434, Distant Coll. 1911-383 (BMNH). Sikkim: 1 ♂, Gangtok, 2123 m, 9.vi.2005, C.A. Viraktamath ( UASB) .

Remarks. Originally described from an unspecified number of specimens (syntypes) with the following data: “E. Himalayas; Darjiling”. This species can be readily recognised by the elongate processes of the dorsolateral lobes of the aedeagus, the ventral extension of atrium well developed and by the two black spots on the crown.
