Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Lihir Group, Namatamai District, New Ireland by Fry et al. (2006: 130). Confirmed records from an observer program on shark longline vessels in 2014 (NFA and CSIRO, unpublished data).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2, 4, 5.—General distribution: Circumglobal in tropical oceans. Coastal pelagic, 0–275 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
