Status at New Ireland. First recorded from off Kavieng, New Ireland by Kailola (1975: 53). KFRS material.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Marshall Islands and Fiji, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Epipelagic in oceanic waters, 0–20 m depth. Marine.
