Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Lewis et al. (1974); reported from Nusa Island opposite Kavieng, New Ireland as Archamia fucata by Gon & Randall (2003: 32), based on USNM 356283; a video of a specimen taken at Anelaua Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–16 m depth, St. KR98, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Marshall Islands and Samoa, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Aggregating in caves or above branching corals of coral-rich coastal and lagoon reefs, 0–35 m depth. Marine.
