New record, based on specimens observed at Kavieng fish market by Barry C. Russell during 14–28 June 2014. A specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 6 July 2010; others photographed at St. KVG25 (off southeastern New Hanover) by Serge Andréfouët on 22 Aug. 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Malaysia and Indonesia east to New Guinea and Solomon Islands, south to Queensland ( Australia). Found in coral-rich coastal reefs and lagoons, 6–70 m depth. Marine.
