Chromis viridis View in CoL (Cuvier [ex Ehrenberg] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1830)—Blue-green chromis

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng region by Dietmar Amon on 16 June 2007; a video of a specimen taken at Nubilus Island , off eastern New Hanover , 3–25 m depth, St. KR 90, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Wake Atoll, Marquesas and Tuamotu islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Western Australia, Lord Howe Island and Tonga. Found in large aggregations above thickets of branching Acropora corals in sheltered areas of subtidal reef flats and lagoons, 1–20 m depth. Marine.
