Pomacentrus coelestis View in CoL Jordan & Starks 1901—Neon damselfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken near Nusa Island, Kavieng District at 5–23 m depth, St. KR 8, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken at Nubilus Island , off eastern New Hanover , 3–25 m depth, St. KR 90, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Christmas Island and South China Sea east to Line Islands and French Polynesia, north to Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to northern Australia. Found on exposed fringing reeefs, lagoon and seaward reefs, 1–12 m depth. Marine.
