Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 11 June 2009.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: East Africa east to Marshall and Society islands, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to Solomon Islands. Found in lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 3–30 m depth. Marine.
